Job Summary:

The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and strong academic and leadership abilities that enable him/her to teach God’s truth through the lens of visual arts. The ability to communicate well with various individuals, handle confidential information appropriately, and maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude is essential.



General Description of Duties and Responsibilities

The Art Teacher instructs students in Kindergarten through 5th grade across two campuses. He or she is responsible for designing and implementing an engaging, sequential art curriculum aligned with state standards that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and appreciation for God’s creation through visual expression. The Art Teacher will guide students in developing their artistic skills and understanding through a variety of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media projects, while integrating art history and cultural appreciation.



I. Essential Job Requirements

Plan all lessons according to state standards and update curriculum as needed.

Teach skills in artistic processes, use of media and tools, art appreciation, and elements of design to elementary students.

Create a classroom environment that promotes creative exploration, collaboration, and respect for materials and peers.

Plan and exhibit student artwork in school-wide displays and special events in collaboration with the Fine Arts Team.

Maintain stewardship and care for art materials, student projects, and school-owned equipment to ensure longevity and reliability.

Communicate regularly with parents through report cards, conferences, phone calls, and written correspondence regarding student progress.

Maintain accurate student records and assess each student’s artistic development, creativity, and mastery of techniques.

Participate in in-service training, faculty meetings, professional development, and school functions as required.

Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned by Elementary Administration.



II. Qualifications

a. Spiritual

Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.

Must actively participate as a member of a local church.

b. Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.

c. Experience

Strong teaching experience in elementary art education preferred.

Minimum of three years of experience working with elementary-aged children.
