Job Summary: The Jupiter Christian School employee must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Standards of Conduct outlined in the JCS employee handbook. The employee must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity. He or She must have the ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisite.
Primary Purpose
The primary purpose for this position will be to perform daily maintenance and minor repairs on assigned campus, and the same on other campuses as necessary. These duties may include plumbing, HVAC, electrical, landscaping and irrigation systems. This individual will work as part of the maintenance team to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the school.
Essential Job Functions
  • Work with external contractors as necessary (electricians, plumbers, excavators, roofers, painters, landscapers, etc.)
  • Daily cleaning and removal of garbage as necessary based on routine assignment from Facilities/ Transportation Manager.
  • Work special school events when needed for cleanup or other maintenance items.
  • Contribute to maintenance team efforts in building and grounds upkeep and repair, with an awareness of safety and security as it pertains to, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation services. Follow preventative maintenance and renovation programs for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Assist with special events and assemblies as needed for setup, teardown, and cleanup duties.
  • Carry or deliver items to rooms or buildings around the campus. Help load and unload trucks and vans as needed.
  • Advise administration about projects that require outside contractors.
  • Drive school buses and vans as needed.
  • Overtime will be required as needed.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General background in basic plumbing, irrigation, and carpentry.
  • HVAC or electric skills are not mandatory but would be preferred.
  • Since the position is physically demanding, the person serving must possess significant strength and physical ability to perform assigned duties. This position requires heavy lifting, bending, pulling, and ladder climbing.
  • A positive self-starter with the ability to maintain a high energy level while doing various tasks. Must possess a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team member to accomplish needed tasks.
Background and Experience Qualifications
A facilities employee must have the following background and experience.

Christian Commitment: Personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and ability to articulate circumstances related to a genuine conversion experience. The successful candidate must endorse the school’s statement of faith without reservation and be a member in good standing at a local church.

Spiritual
  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior

  • Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in an evangelical local church.

Work Related Experience:
Minimum three years’ experience in areas related to the performance of duties associated with the position.
