Job Summary: The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS faculty contract. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisites. Status: Part-Time, Contracted Staff. An individual who serves as a contracted employee during the school year, after school hours in the afternoon and evenings. Some hours during the school day are required for student communication via divisional support staff. Essential Job Requirements Production Planning & Execution Select age-appropriate and mission-aligned scripts for major productions (e.g., fall play, spring musical), with administrative approval Secure venue(s) for performances and coordinate scheduling, technical needs, and venue-related logistics Plan and execute all aspects of the production process, including auditions, casting, rehearsals, set design, costumes, props, sound, and lighting Oversee student performers and technical crew, ensuring a safe and educational rehearsal and performance environment Create a comprehensive rehearsal calendar and delegate responsibilities to assistant directors and parent volunteers as needed Work within an assigned budget, maintaining accurate records and submitting receipts for rights, rentals, costumes, and materials Coordinate ticket sales, front-of-house volunteers, and show night logistics Instructional & Student Engagement Teach, mentor, and guide students in acting, stagecraft, and performance etiquette throughout the production process Provide positive and constructive feedback to students, supporting artistic growth and teamwork Promote student leadership roles within the production (e.g., stage manager, tech crew leads) Cultivate a safe and inclusive environment that values creativity, discipline, and collaboration Communication & Community Collaboration Communicate clearly and proactively with students, families, and school leadership regarding audition expectations, rehearsal commitments, and performance schedules Build and coordinate a team of parent and staff volunteers to assist with costumes, sets, meals, supervision, and other production needs Partner with the Communications Team to promote the production, advertise auditions, and create programs/playbills Maintain care and inventory of school-owned props, equipment, and costumes Qualifications a. Spiritual i. Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior iii. Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in a local church. b. Education i. Required: High school diploma ii. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, education, or related field. c. Experience Experience directing full-scale middle or high school productions Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills Familiarity with script licensing, basic technical theatre, and working with volunteers A passion for nurturing student creativity and developing character through the arts | ||
