Summary:
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting for the CP Group corporate books. This position reports to the Corporate Reporting Manager but will have regular exposure to the Chief Financial Officer. In addition, this person will assist in additional projects as needed, gaining a valuable understanding of the accounting and operations of the Company.
Essential Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Take ownership of the full corporate accounting cycle:
- Make bank deposits as needed.
- Prepare and initiate wires as needed.
- Prepare and upload journal entries for all entities in consolidation.
- Record subsidiary financial activity for consolidation.
- Review monthly consolidation for accuracy.
- Prepare detailed workpapers, including financial statement support schedules.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet, P&L, and close workpapers for review.
- Assist with variance analysis as needed.
- Understand complex expense allocations between the various company subsidiaries.
- Review invoice coding and support for corporate expenditures.
- Maintain real time cash balance to advise Executive team on cash forecasting.
- Bill fees to properties and track fee collections, working directly with Property Management to stay current.
- Communicate regularly with Accounting, Property Management, and Corporate team members.
- Expected to be an integral part of improving processes and the use of technology.
- Other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- A minimum of 2 years of accounting, with corporate accounting or consolidation experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with MRI is preferred.
- Passion for maximizing the use of technology to create efficiencies.
