Position Summary
The Cox Science Center & Aquarium is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Membership Coordinator to join our Revenue and Marketing Department. This full-time position serves as the primary contact for membership sales, renewals, and member engagement while helping create exceptional experiences for our guests.
The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and organizational skills, experience working with families and the public, and a passion for supporting the Science Center’s mission. Responsibilities include membership administration, member communications, data management, reporting, guest services support, and coordinating membership benefits and events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage membership sales, renewals, upgrades, and account maintenance while providing outstanding customer service to members and guests.
  • Maintain accurate membership records through timely data entry, account updates, and database management within the ticketing and CRM systems.
  • Generate and analyze membership reports to track sales, renewals, retention, and engagement metrics.
  • Process and distribute membership cards, welcome packets, renewal notices, and other member materials in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with membership marketing initiatives, including direct mail campaigns, email communications, and member outreach efforts.
  • Develop and support member engagement programs, including member-exclusive events, benefits, promotions, and stewardship activities designed to enhance the member experience.
  • Monitor membership trends and member feedback and provide recommendations to improve member satisfaction and retention.
  • Ensure all membership communications, forms, and materials are accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Provide support for Guest Services and Admissions operations as needed, including greeting guests, answering phones, processing transactions, handling cash, balancing drawers, and maintaining a welcoming front-of-house environment.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Science Center by promoting memberships, programs, exhibits, events, and the organization's mission.
  • Follow all Science Center policies, procedures, safety protocols, and guest service standards.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and the public.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn ticketing, CRM, and membership software.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare basic membership reports
  • Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve guest concerns professionally.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to promote the Science Center's mission, programs, and membership benefits with enthusiasm.
Certifications, Licenses, and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Museum Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of customer service, membership, admissions, sales, or guest experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with CRM, ticketing, membership, or point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background screening.
Work Environment and Expectations
  • Typical work schedule is onsite and willing to work all weekends (typically a Tuesday through Saturday or Wednesday through Sunday shift.)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
