Overview

We are seeking a Transportation Traffic Engineer with 3-6 years of professional experience to be part of our Transportation team in our West Palm Beach, FL office.

The Transportation Traffic Engineer will be an integral team member in the transportation planning and PD&E division conducting a wide range of traffic safety , operational, and mobility studies; and large complex project development and environment (PD&E) studies for city, county and FDOT clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting technical engineering analysis of highway crashes, identification of safety improvements, using HSM, and crash modification factors;
  • Conducting field reviews to identify safety and operational issues;
  • Conducting traffic operational analysis on intersections, interchanges, freeways, and arterial corridors using SYNCHRO, VISSIM, and HCS in the analysis to determine existing and future performance;
  • Prepare and present traffic and data analysis, results, and recommendations with PowerPoint presentations and technical memorandums to clients and the public;
  • Provide safety / traffic improvement recommendations to highway design engineers preparing conceptual improvement drawings;
  • Prepare engineering documents including traffic reports, safety reports, feasibility studies, and preliminary engineering reports;
  • Interact with the public and attend periodic project public meetings in various Florida cities;
  • Support marketing efforts related to new project pursuits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college;
  • Demonstrated 3 to 6 years in progressively responsible experience;
  • EI or passing score on FE is required (and Florida Professional Engineering registration is required), or the candidate is approved to pursue PE licensure by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers;
  • Experience using AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and ADA regulations;
  • PTOE certification is a plus;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
  • Microsoft office skills – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Travel to other offices or project locations may be required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
