Position Overview
The Catering/Events Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of catering functions and special events. This role provides hands-on experience in event logistics, client service, and hospitality operations. The intern will assist with both administrative tasks and on-site event support to ensure seamless experiences for clients and guests.

Wellington International, formerly known as Palm Beach International Equestrian Center was founded in 2006 and has contributed to transforming Wellington, Florida, into the world’s premiere destination for equestrian enthusiasts. Wellington International is an amusement and recreational establishment doing business through several companies. Wellington International arranges seasonal events, including the Winter Equestrian Festival (“WEF”), which is held at Wellington International over 13 weeks and is the world’s largest and longest-running equestrian sports event with more than 8,000 horses and more than 300,000 spectators from 43 different countries converge on Wellington.
The Catering/Events Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of catering functions and special events. This role provides hands-on experience in event logistics, client service, and hospitality operations. The intern will assist with both administrative tasks and on-site event support to ensure seamless experiences for clients and guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with event planning logistics, including timelines, menus, décor, rentals, and vendor coordination.
- Support day-of-event operations such as setup, guest check-in, service coordination, and breakdown.
- Conduct research on venues, vendors, and event trends as needed.
- Prepare and update event documents including proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders (BEOs).
- Assist with inventory tracking of catering supplies, linens, and equipment.
- Provide administrative support such as filing, scheduling, and maintaining client databases.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure events run smoothly and meet client expectations.
- Represent the organization professionally with clients, vendors, and guests.
- High School Diploma a must.
- Currently enrolled in (or recent graduate of) Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Communications, or related field, preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Positive attitude, team-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
