The Director of Community Impact advances United Way of Palm Beach County's impact strategies through research, partnerships, grantmaking, and community engagement. Working closely with nonprofit organizations, public agencies, funders, and community stakeholders, the Director drives systems‑level change, strengthens cross‑sector collaboration, and ensures investments are data‑informed, equitable, and results‑driven.

The Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for key investments and initiatives, fostering alignment across nonprofit, government, business, and education partners. By leveraging data and community insights, the Director ensures initiatives are evidence‑based and contribute meaningfully to United Way's broader impact goals.

đź’Ľ Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Community Impact

  • Partner with the Senior Vice President of Impact to develop and implement United Way's hunger and food security impact strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Monitor emerging and ongoing community needs to guide strategic interventions and promote best practices.
  • Ensure all communications reflect the experiences, barriers, and perspectives of the ALICE population.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with nonprofit partners, government agencies, schools, healthcare systems, and other key stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration among nonprofits, donors, volunteers, and community leaders, serving as a subject‑matter expert and ambassador on United Way's priority and hunger related issues.
  • Mobilize partners to identify and respond to emerging critical needs within the community.

Grantmaking & Investment Management

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of hunger related funding initiatives, including application development, review, recommendations, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Ensure funded programs align with strategic priorities, equity commitments, and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to funded partners to strengthen program quality and impact.
  • Identify and cultivate additional funding opportunities that advance United Way's mission.

Data, Evaluation, & Learning

  • Use data and community insights to inform strategy development, funding decisions, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and track performance metrics and outcomes to assess and enhance impact.
  • Analyze results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to internal and external audiences in partnership with the Community Investment Manager.

Leadership & Internal Collaboration

  • Collaborate with directors and cross‑functional teams-such as Resource Development, Marketing & Communications, and Finance-to elevate the visibility of funded programs and initiatives.
  • Contribute to organizational planning, community assessments, and impact reporting.
  • Support board and volunteer engagement related to investments and initiatives.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts through grant writing, donor engagement, and corporate partnerships.

Operations & Special Initiatives

  • Provide administrative and management support to the Senior Vice President of Impact.
  • Oversee initiatives, partnerships, programs, events, and outreach efforts in collaboration with Impact staff.
  • Support organizational disaster response activities as needed.

🎓 Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred; preferred fields include social sciences, business, or liberal arts.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in the human services field, including program development, administration, and fiscal oversight.
  • Experience working collaboratively with community leaders, volunteers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform decisions and measure outcomes.
