📋 Job Summary

The Director of Community Impact provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for United Way's community impact portfolio. This role stewards the organization's investments and initiatives that address priority community needs and fosters cross-sector partnerships with nonprofits, government, business, and education partners. The Director uses data and community insights to ensure that initiatives are evidence-based, aligned with organizational goals, and contribute measurable outcomes that advance United Way's mission and impact.


💼 Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

Lead development and ongoing refinement of United Way's community impact strategy.
Use community data, research, and needs assessments to inform priority areas, goals, and investments.
Integrate equity and outcomes-focused frameworks into strategy and programming.
Program & Initiative Oversight

Oversee the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of impact initiatives.
Ensure alignment between investments, community needs, and broader outcomes.
Lead outcome measurement and reporting systems - translate data into actionable insights and influence decision-making.
Partnership & Community Engagement

Build and maintain high-level relationships with nonprofit partners, government agencies, funders, and educational institutions.
Convene cross-sector stakeholders to advance collaborative solutions to complex community challenges.
Represent United Way in local coalitions and public forums.
Grant & Investment Management

Oversee the community investment process, including criteria, grant reviews, partner selection, and compliance.
Identify and secure external funding opportunities to support strategic priorities.
Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to funded partners.
Leadership & Team Development

Supervise impact staff and coordinate with other departments (e.g., development, communications).
Foster a culture of data-informed practice, continuous learning, and accountability.

🎓 Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Sciences, or related field).
7+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit/impact roles, including data-driven strategy, evaluation, and cross-sector partnership.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated ability to translate community insights into measurable strategies.
Experience managing budgets, grants, or investments.
