PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

The purpose of this classification is to assist the Town in supporting planning, coordination, and improvement of inter-departmental projects and activities. This short-term internship offers valuable exposure to local government operations and the opportunity to work on a focused project while collaborating with various departments across the Town of Jupiter. This position will serve in a support capacity and gain professional experience in communication, problem solving, process improvement, and cross-functional teamwork.
Duties include research, process documentation, and project support to help ensure Town-wide initiatives move forward collaboratively and efficiently. The position contributes to process refinement and organizational improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for increased effectiveness.
This position reports to the Senior Special Projects Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The student intern will work on an assigned project and collaborate with staff throughout the Town of Jupiter. The following duties are typical for this position. Other similar or related duties may be assigned as appropriate for the internship.
- Assist with planning, coordination, and tracking of a designated Town project under staff supervision.
- Work with staff to identify opportunities for process improvement, apply AI tools to enhance efficiency, and recommend practical solutions that help streamline work across departments.
- Support research, data collection, and analysis to help inform recommendations.
- Help prepare reports, summaries, and visual presentation materials for internal use.
- Document processes, create templates, and workflows to support project deliverables.
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings to observe and contribute to collaborative discussions.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Apply creative problem-solving skills and innovative thinking to assist with project challenges.
- Learn and apply foundational project management and communication practices in a professional government environment.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs general/clerical tasks, including answering telephone calls, typing documents, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, or processing incoming/outgoing mail.
Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma required.
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must have the ability and desire to learn (processes, software systems, etc.)
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized, and the ability to obtain the State of Florida license within thirty (30) days from the date of employment is required.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but they may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and lightweight materials (5-10 lbs.). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00PM (up to 40 hours/week); schedules may be adjusted based on department needs.
Rate: $18.00/hour
