The Greene School in West Palm Beach, Florida, seeks an experienced Upper School Counselor.

The successful candidate will become part of an expanding Upper School program. In this role, the counselor will
play an integral part in program and curriculum development as the school continues to develop. Additionally, we
are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about developing and supervising a range of co-curricular and
extracurricular activities for students.
Position Summary:
The School Counselor will primarily support students in the Upper School, as well as students in the lower and middle
school, as needed. The counselor supports the social-emotional, academic, and developmental needs of upper school
students at the Greene School. This role provides short-term, school-based counseling; partners closely with faculty,
administrators, and families; and implements programs and practices that promote student wellness and a positive school
culture.
Key Responsibilities
a. Individual and Group Counseling
Provide individual and group counseling to upper school students to address academic concerns, social-emotional
challenges, peer relationships, stress management, and emotional regulation. Prepare all notes and other necessary
documentation pertaining to clinical supports in a timely manner.
b. Academic Support and Accommodations
Provide support related to executive functioning for students. Collaborate with faculty, advisors, students, and family to
promote academic engagement and student success, including developing student success plans where appropriate.
Manage the process for and collaborate with faculty, families, outside providers, and administrators to support students in
accessing appropriate academic accommodations that best meet their learning needs. Develop individualized service
plans/accommodation plans for students who require one.
c. Crisis Intervention and Student Safety
Respond to student crises, including mental health concerns, family-related stressors, and other urgent situations,
in accordance with school protocols. Facilitate mediations with students and other parties as needed. Participate in
risk assessments and crisis response, in collaboration with the current school counselor.
d. College and Career Readiness
In collaboration with the Assistant Director of College Counselor, guide students in exploring interests, strengths,
and postsecondary pathways.

e. Program Development and Schoolwide Initiatives
Design and implement programs, workshops, and monthly lessons that promote social-emotional learning,
wellness, mental health awareness ,resilience, executive functioning, and positive school climate within the upper
school. Facilitate family workshops that promote mental health awareness, adolescent developmental needs, and
family wellness practices
f. Collaboration and Consultation
Work closely with teachers, administrators, advisors, and parents to identify and address holistic student needs.
Participate in student-of-concern meetings and consult with school faculty to develop strategies that support
student growth. Support and facilitate school-family partnership meetings to address students of concern where
needed. Meet weekly with the current school counselor to ensure alignment in practices and policies; participate
in case reviews, consultations, and peer supervision.
g. Referral and Resource Coordination
Identify when a student's needs exceed the scope of school-based counseling and facilitate referrals to outside
mental health providers and community resources in partnership with families.
h. Confidentiality and Ethical Practice
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with professional ethical standards, legal requirements, and school
policies. Practice within appropriate professional boundaries and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications:
● LCSW, LMFT, or similar licensure
● Some clinical experience in a mental health or school setting is preferred
● Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations
● An ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and a capacity to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented
when faced with unexpected challenges
● Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, and professionals
● An ability to actively engage students in their own learning and social and emotional development
● Strong written and oral communication skills, including an acumen for participating in sensitive conversations
● A disposition toward teamwork and collaboration
Education and Experience:
● A master’s degree with a minimum of three years of school counseling; an advanced degree in a related field is
preferred but not required.
