Position Overview
The Greene School is seeking a nurturing, creative, and reflective Early Childhood Teacher to join our Lower School team. The
ideal candidate has a strong understanding of child development, values play-based and inquiry-driven learning, and is passionate
about creating a warm, engaging classroom environment where young children feel known, supported, and inspired.
Key Responsibilities
● Create a safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for early childhood learners
● Design and implement play-based, inquiry-driven lessons that align with The Greene School’s mission and philosophy
● Foster early literacy, numeracy, and foundational academic skills through hands-on, meaningful learning experiences
● Support students’ social-emotional development, including self-regulation, collaboration, empathy, and independence
● Observe, assess, and document student growth; use assessments to inform instruction and differentiation
● Build strong, collaborative partnerships with families through open and consistent communication
● Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support the needs of each child
● Maintain a well-organized classroom and uphold school policies and procedures
● Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
Qualifications
● Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education
● Teaching certification or eligibility preferred
● Experience teaching in early childhood or lower elementary settings
● Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education
● Commitment to whole-child education and personalized learning
● Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
● A growth mindset, flexibility, and enthusiasm for innovative education
