Our client, L.O. Eye Care, is looking for a Senior Accountant who shares our commitment to quality and integrity. This is an opportunity for a candidate who wants to play a key role behind the scenes in supporting a healthcare organization where every decision ultimately impacts patient outcomes.

This is more than a traditional accounting role. You will partner closely with leadership to help ensure the financial strength and operational efficiency of a growing medical practice, all while contributing to a mission where your work directly supports better vision and better lives. This opportunity reports to the CFO and oversees a small accounting team. This onsite role is based out of our Grand Ledge, Michigan office. Qualified candidates who are motivated, action‑oriented, and ready to make an immediate impact are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates based in Mid-Michigan area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process with a preferred 5 to 7 day time frame
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Manage revenue recognition and accounts receivable, including billing accuracy and collections
  • Oversee accounts payable, cash flow, and banking reconciliations
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, W-2s, and payroll tax filings
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and healthcare regulations
  • Support external audits and tax filings
  • Deliver financial insights to support leadership decision-making
  • Monitor and reduce AR aging
  • File Sales/Use tax returns (multi-entity)
  • Reconcile employee benefits and 401(k) contributions
  • Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
  • Serve as backup to accounting support staff as needed

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience)
  • Current CPA strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, in a healthcare or medical practice preferred
  • Successful accounting experience with sales /use tax filings and background in a multi-entity accounting environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience working with medical billing in accounting
  • Experience with financial systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
