The Sr. Principal Engineer, Lead Project Engineer will be primary technical leader and primary decision maker for all engineering activities for the Pratt & Whitney APU/Turbojet development programs assigned. As a senior leader, this position requires technical expertise, advanced problem-solving capabilities, and a commitment to mentoring engineering teams. The role is responsible for ensuring that complex engine power systems are designed, developed, and delivered to meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. This role operates within the Fighter & Mobility Auxiliary Power Unit and Turbojet business group requiring a keen focus on improving cost, quality, and efficiency.

What You Will Do:

  • Technical execution of engineering activities for programs

  • Manage the assigned program activity in alignment with the respective PW Management system manual processes as well as all other applicable project management procedures.

  • Ensure all engineering activity is appropriately planned, baselined, and tracked via Earn Value Management Systems (EVMS). Ensure all IPTs are tracking to their plans.

  • Manage overall program milestones through tracking and providing execution communication

  • Coordinate overall program technical communications

  • Ensure technical scope changes are coordinated with the program management team leadership

  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) to program team, management, and customers

  • Drive world class reliability through fleet monitoring and field investigations / Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action activities

  • Work with PW functional discipline managers to ensure proper resource plans are in place

  • Maintain overall program technical risk assessment including the identification of program level technical risk mitigation plans and establishing and tracking tasks to reduce risk

  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers and lead cross functional technical teams with a commitment to developing junior engineers and assisting engineering leadership with staff competency assessments and proficiency development.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

  • Minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Travel 20% max – to corporate/module centers, customers, supplier visits

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • (Siemens) Teamcenter, (MS) Project, (MS) PowerPoint and (MS) Excel experience

  • Extensive project engineering or program management experience including system integration and test management working across a highly matrixed organization, including team members, suppliers, and customers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to handle complex technical information

  • Specific experience in gas turbine engine operations, control systems, and integration

  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and FAA certification standards for aerospace propulsion systems

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
