What You Will Do:
The Principal Engineer, Project Engineering will be responsible for overseeing and improving designs, manufacturing, and engine test processes for legacy and new production Military APU products within the Fighter & Mobility Auxiliary Power Unit and Turbojet business group, with a keen focus on overseeing the transition of small military engine products from development to production ensuring adherence to industry standards and company protocol. This position is senior level combining strong leadership, technical acumen, excellent communication skills to align varied engineering efforts, with mentoring responsibilities to ensure complex engine systems are manufactured to be safe, reliable, and compliant with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the planning and execution of production transition activities for new small military engine products including establishing best manufacturing processes, defining quality control measures, and optimizing supply chain logistics while ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget and established quality metrics.
Provide critical System Integrated Product Team (SIPT) support to collaboratively develop, manage, and deliver complex engine systems by integrating varied expertise to identify and resolve development to production transition issues while ensuring overall project success.
Act as subject matter expert (SME) and advisor to engineering leadership on significant technical issues.
This includes leading root cause investigations and analysis for engine /engine component failures and identifying effective corrective actions.
Lead and coordinate the testing of small engine systems including performance and certification testing to ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements.
Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors ensuring timely delivery of components and compliance with specifications.
Conduct thorough risk assessment and mitigation strategies to identify and address potential manufacturing challenges such as materials shortages, process bottlenecks, or supplier dependencies.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives including the recording and transfer of developed knowledge, establish best practices, and implement new tools and technologies to meet department objectives
Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers and lead cross functional technical teams with a commitment to developing junior engineers and assisting engineering leadership with staff competency assessments and proficiency development.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
8+ years of relevant engineering experience an in manufacturing and/or production environment or project management role or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Travel 20% max – to corporate/module centers, customers, supplier visits
Qualifications We Prefer:
(Siemens) Teamcenter, (MS) Project, (MS) PowerPoint and (MS) Excel experience as well as Agile development methodology
Extensive project engineering or program management experience including system integration and test management working across a highly matrixed organization, including team members, suppliers, and customers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to handle complex technical information
Specific experience in gas turbine engine operations, control systems, and integration
Strong knowledge of industry regulations and FAA certification standards for aerospace propulsion systems

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
