POSITION: Shipping & Receiving Inspector
LOCATION: Jupiter/Stuart
STATUS: Hourly, Non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide packaging and product verification services in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, to ensure a safe and efficient operation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Unpack/Pack product, in accordance to PSM specifications and work instructions; ensuring that product is secure for transport.
- Verify product is adequately packaged and all material present prior to shipment to customer
- Computer entry work in our network and databases, as well as scanning documentation and uploading photographs.
- Visually inspects serial numbers and part condition to verify if parts are acceptable.
- Documents findings from inspection activities according to established procedures.
- Operates small cranes and fork-lifts to move equipment, parts and material.
- Create accurate box labels.
- Build, modify, and paint shipping and storage containers.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area to keep area free from safety hazards.
- Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Ensure safe operations of fork-lifts and pallet jacks.
- Following Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in fast pace environment.
- Continually improving operations and the working environment through 5s methodology.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix
Skills/Experience
- 1+ years of experience manufacturing or production experience with specific skills related to inspection of parts and/or material handling
- 1+ years of experience in a production, storage or manufacturing environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP (or other production tracking system), and time keeping applications
Physical Requirements
- Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
- Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
- Pushing & Pulling
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
- Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- May require travel (air & ground) with short notice.
- Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, face shield, etc.
