About this role

Responsible for the administration, leadership and planning of Early Childhood and K-12 programs which includes Career Certificate Programs (CCP), Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE) programs, and the Educator Preparation Institute. Oversees the administration of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Childcare Training contract and the Prime-Time Palm Beach County, Inc. contract as well as the development of the bachelor's program in Education. Designs, develops and implements programs that foster an academic pathway for students. Acts as liaison with community partners and fosters collaboration for advancement of programs within the local community and on a state and national level.

What a day of a Director, Early Childhood K-12 Programs looks like:

  • Coordinates college-wide program and oversees management of contractual agreement of college deliverables. Coordinates job related activities between college departments and other outside organizations.

  • Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly and indirectly to you.

  • Act as a College liaison for programs and services with outside agencies or community leaders. Communicates program information internally.

  • Prepares for participation in Community and Program Advisory Board, School District, and Foundation Committee meetings. Travels to meetings, seminars and conferences outside of college locations.

  • Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for a department, campus, or college. Monitor expenditure and revenue patterns and adjust the budget, as needed.

  • Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track course schedules and adjusts as required.

  • Assists faculty in the development of course and program curriculum, program and course reviews and articulation activities.

  • Directs the implementation of program’s goals, objectives, and evaluation procedures. Develops short- term and long-range goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations.

  • Manages state and institutional reporting, and program review. Prepares required reports for various internal and external requests.

  • Researches and recommends potential funding sources for projects or programs. Coordinates and conducts development of grant proposals or funding requests.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and industry standards. Establishes and executes department policies and procedures. Distributes information to personnel in programs, explain procedures and clarify new policies and procedures.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree

  • Six years related experience, to include experience in supervision

Knowledge of:

  • Early Childhood and K-12 curriculum and developmental practices

  • Adult education principles

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

  • Blackboard, Canvas or other LMS

Skilled in:

  • Motivating employees to apply the effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goals

  • Resolving conflicts between individual needs and requirements of the organization

  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

  • Accurately manage a budget

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

Preferred, but not a must:

Education and Experience:

  • College teaching experience

  • State mandated early childhood education or K-12 training, certifications, or credentials; or six credit hours in early childhood or K-12 education coursework

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Reach and grasp objects

  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Use of video display terminal

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skill

  • Communicate information orally and in writing

  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
