About this role

Responsible for the leadership, administration, and oversight of the assigned grant and student success programs. Directs and oversees assigned programs, providing students in secondary education with educational opportunities, post-secondary access, and resources for completion. Develops and implements student success initiatives that align with grant, department, and the College’s goals. Designs methods for retaining and increasing academic success of students. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.

What a day of a Student Success Director looks like:

  • Creates and oversees programs and resources for students that empower them with skills for academic, career, personal, and lifelong success. Develops academic success plans for students based on academic progress.

  • Engages stakeholders in student success initiatives through business engagement and outreach strategies. Publicly represents the College and grant within the community.

  • Creates and implements learning sessions and facilitates panel discussion groups. Oversees co-sponsored programming with student organizations, academic affairs, student services, and other internal and external stakeholders surrounding enrollment, retention, and completion.

  • Develops actionable, proactive metrics that provide strategic insights towards student needs and barriers to academic success. Analyzes metrics and takes actions to ensure favorable outcomes.

  • Develops and improves mechanisms for tracking and reporting data statistics. Provides comprehensive and interpretive reports to distribute findings and analysis.

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including primary and secondary education leaders. Meets regularly with stakeholders to discuss strategy, elements, and report on progress.

  • Initiates and coordinates the development of grant proposals and other funding sources that support the department and College’s strategic goals. Identifies potential funding sources and opportunities.

  • Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions, such as clarification of College or campus policy and procedures.

  • Manages and provides guidance, direction, and observation of staff you supervise directly. This includes but is not limited to conducting performance appraisals, goal setting, career and performance counseling, and identification and evaluation of training and development needs for staff.

  • Ensures compliance with program and budgetary terms set forth within the grant document. Prepares status and final reports for funding agencies or industry. Monitors expenditure and revenue patterns and adjusts the budget as needed.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree

  • Four years of related experience, including supervisory experience

Knowledge of:

  • Curriculum development and training techniques

  • Pedagogical practices aimed at creating a positive classroom environment

  • Assessment and evaluation methods in education

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Skilled in:

  • Strategic thinking including effective planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, tracking results and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances and context

Ability to:

  • Handle highly sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality

  • Gain the confidence and respect of diverse stakeholders in order to work effectively and build relationships of trust

  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness

  • Develop and deliver presentations containing complex concepts and information in a manner easily understood by culturally diverse groups with varying backgrounds and education levels.

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

  • Regular physical attendance required

  • Valid Florida driver’s license

  • Requires travel between campus locations

Preferred, but not a must:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in primary and secondary education

  • Experience teaching in post-secondary education

  • Experience creating and conducting training and development initiatives

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

  • Communicate information orally and in writing

  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $63,411.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
