About this role
Responsible for providing personal and career advising services for program participants, including conducting assessments, formulating Individual Employment Plans (IEP), assisting and arranging training support, facilitating course enrollment and initial career planning, and monitoring all progress toward the training and employment goal. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.What a day of a Career Success Coach looks like:
Manages a case load of students for academic advising to aid in retention and completion. Advises program participants individually and in small groups regarding employability skills. Increases student understanding of career pathway opportunities and guides them toward program completion.
Recruits prospective students in various settings including but not limited to high school, other educational facilities, or at career programs. Counsels students regarding their adaptability to a college environment.
Refers students to both internal and external resources for wrap-around services including personal counseling, financial assistance, or other student needs.
Advises students as to course of study, particular course offerings, necessary testing, pre- and co-requisites, and college related matters.
Provides students with career information and guides students in career and education planning, analyzing test results and identifying areas requiring further attention.
Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish workload. Ensures the program implementation plan, metrics, and scope of work of the grant are met in a timely manner and within budget.
Documents all activities in the participant case file and complies with grantor procedures on record retention. Ensures confidentiality of educational records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Mitigates barriers to successful training and employment by engaging and coordinating meetings with other college staff and partner agencies.
Compiles, verifies, and analyzes information or data for use in presentations and on reports.
Liaisons among departments, functions, or groups, within the College and with the community. Prepares and participates in various meetings and committees. Travels between College campuses and other locations.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field of study
Two years of related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office or similar applications
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) within 30 days of employment
Starfish or similar student information system
Skilled in:
Effective time and task management
Attention to detail
Ability to:
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, and take responsibility for a high level of service
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Demonstrate sound judgement, respond to unusual circumstances, and appropriately handle confidential materials and matters
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required
Valid Florida driver’s license
Some periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closures

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in education, human services, social work, or related field of study
Experience in higher education
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Reach and grasp objects
Stand for extended periods of time
Use of keyboard
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Communicate information orally and in writing
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
Proofread and check documents for accuracy

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $43,888.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
