About this role
Under general supervision, responsible for evaluating and approving expenditures related to capital assets including the evaluation of expenditures for repair and maintenance vs. capital improvements, maintains depreciation schedules related to buildings, structures and other improvements. Works closely with facilities departments to report construction work in progress. Performs account analysis, reviews revenue, expenditures, and performs account reconciliation. Ensures financial records are in compliance with policies and regulations. Interacts with Federal and State agencies, private grantors and auditors.What a day of an Accountant I looks like:
Analyzes revenues, expenditures, activity costs, and other financial information outside of budgeting tasks.
Controls and monitors projects and oversees administrative details that may include consultant document reviews, contractor billings, building project budgets, consultant and technology contracts.
Reconciles tasks related to capital items surplus payment reconciliations. Includes reconciliation of college records on disposal of fixed assets.
Catalogs and accounts for fixed assets. Maintains records. Includes analysis, valuation, reconciliation, and reporting as necessary. Includes schedules of gains and losses on disposal of fixed assets.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare statements and financial reports and resolves accounting discrepancies.
Designs complex spreadsheets, with multiple function formulas and links.
Reconciles balance sheet accounts. Includes all adjusting work, matching and reconciling source documents.
Provides pertinent financial data and makes recommendations to senior administrators.
Evaluates and ensures procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Prepares interim financial reports, monthly reports, and comprehensive annual financial reports.
Consults and advises within area of expertise.
Works independently to find systems solutions to business processes using available tools and resources.
Sets up new accounting systems. Revises existing systems.
Runs pre-established reports and develops routine data lists through the report writer.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience; OR
Associate’s degree and four years of related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
Accounting practices
Skill in:
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Performing with a high degree of accuracy
Analyzing relevant information to solve problems
Ability to:
Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
Accurately reconcile cash and accounts
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required
Preferred, but not a must:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field of study
Four years of accounting experience
Workday experience
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $52,240.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
