About this role
Responsible for oversight of daily operations of programs and services within the tutoring lab in the area of discipline. Develops, evaluates, and orders lab or program materials and resources. Reviews lab materials and evaluates usefulness of lab resources on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy of information. Collaborates with managers and faculty in the development of programs and services.This is a position to instruct VPI classes for our TABE students in English Reading and Comprehension.
What a day of a Learning Lab Coordinator looks like:
Responsible for establishing the schedule and supervision of assigned lab and its operations.
Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and the work of direct and indirect reports. Develops and trains staff. Performs needs analysis, arranges, coordinates, delivers, evaluates, and monitors staff development.
Coordinates resources with textbook and course syllabus to ensure a successful program. Creates lab materials and evaluates usefulness of lab resources on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy of information.
Acts as liaison with departments within area of discipline. Encourages use of the lab by students through communication with faculty and development of lab orientation programs. Ensures lab services meet the needs of students and instructors.
Tutors and mentors students in the lab, especially within discipline of expertise.
Participates as active member within the assigned clusters and collaborates with department chairs.
Works with faculty and academic leadership team to design, develop, and implement professional programming in support of academic and student success.
Maintains and enhances current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree within specific subject area related to the position
Two years of related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
Delivering a high level of customer service
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Promoting cooperative behavior and team efforts
Ability to:
Convey knowledge of tutorial discipline to others in a practical and comprehensive manner
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Research information for problem solving
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Demonstrate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required

Education and Experience:
Experience within an educational environment
Tutoring experience within the subject area
Supervisory Experience
College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds
Reach and grasp objects
Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Stand for extended periods of time
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

Proofread and check documents for accuracy
Work a fluctuating work schedule

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $43,888.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
