Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing; Family Nurse Pra

SUMMARY:

Responsible for teaching graduate nursing students in live class, hybrid, online and clinical environments, advising nursing students, serving on School of Nursing (SON) and university committees while maintaining current practice in a primary care setting as a family nurse practitioner (FNP).

Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Teach in the graduate program during fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • Evaluate student performance.

Advising

  • Meet with advisees as defined in the policy and procedure.
  • Upon approval, grant advisees’ registration clearance

Service

  • Serve on SON and university committees.
  • Provide service to the community.

Scholarship

  • The SON defines scholarship as keeping current with nursing practice, original research, and other scholarly activities such as publications, presentations, and participation in professional nursing organizations.

Maintain Current Practice

  • Maintain current clinical practice as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary care setting.
  • Willingness to precept students in clinical practice.
  • Maintain knowledge of current practice, curriculum development, accreditation requirements, and certification for the program/track in which they teach.
  • Maintain CPR/BLS certification.
  • Various duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctoral degree required, PhD in nursing preferred, Florida RN License (or eligible), Florida license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in FNP practice in primary care setting, CPR/BLS certification.
  • 2-3 years of full-time teaching experience at the graduate level in an accredited nursing program preferred.
