Job Description Summary:

ModMed is seeking a Senior IT Cloud Engineer-DaaS as the primary architect and administrator of ModMed’s desktop/endpoint cloud virtualization strategy. This individual will be responsible for the design, deployment, and automated management of AWS Workspaces for a global workforce, ensuring high performance, networking integrity, and security compliance across 2,500+ virtual endpoints.

Your Role:

  • AWS Workspaces Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of the enterprise DaaS environment, including image management, bundle optimization, and protocol selection (WSP/PCoIP).

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate the provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning of AWS Workspaces using IaC to ensure consistent delivery for a global user base.

  • Cloud Networking & Connectivity: Manage VPC configurations, Transit Gateways, and AD Connector health to ensure seamless, low-latency connectivity between virtual desktops and on-prem/cloud resources.

  • Security & Compliance: Implement and monitor security groups, IAM policies, and encryption (KMS) to protect company data within the DaaS environment, aligning with healthcare software standards.

  • Endpoint Strategy & Client Support: Optimize the end-user experience across various clients (Windows, macOS, Web, Zero Clients) and troubleshoot complex performance issues.

  • Cost Optimization & Monitoring: Analyze AWS Cost Explorer and CloudWatch metrics to right-size instances (Auto-stop vs. Always-on) and reduce departmental spend.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or related fields

  • 5+ Years as a Cloud Engineer, preferably in AWS or GCP.

  • AWS Workspaces, VPC Networking, Active Directory, PowerShell/Python experience.

  • Terraform/IaC, AWS Directory Service, AppStream 2.0, FSx for Windows experience, preferred.

  • Holds themself and others accountable to deliver successful outcomes.
