Intern, Electrical (Summer 2026)

As a Summer Intern you will assist in analyzing, designing and detailing electrical engineering solutions that enhance the functionality, sustainability, and safety of the built environment.
Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing electrical engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more licensed electrical engineers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include performing design calculations, preparing reports, and producing deliverable drawing sets including site plans, lighting plans, power plans, special systems plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, and details.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists to design and specify project-appropriate electrical engineering requirements.
- Coordinates designs with the work of Electrical Designers.
- Performs Revit modeling and detailing
- Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
- Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
- Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
- Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.
- Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical/lighting emphasis.
- Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT MEP is preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency using Visual or AGi32, ElumTools for Revit, DIVA for Rhino, SKM PowerTools, or COMcheck is a plus.
- Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
- Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
- Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.
