What you will be doing

Title: Athlete Health Educator

Department: Global Sports Marketing

Job Summary

The Athlete Health Per Diem Educator will provide public health-based education to athletes, coaches, parents, teachers and administrators as part of the Athlete Health Program at Hospital for Special Surgery.

Specific job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Deliver educational workshops and neuromuscular training sessions for and other partner organizations under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
  • Conduct movement assessments for youth and adult athletes, analyze data to provide personalized feedback and recommendations to improve health outcomes under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and improvement of educational materials and program curricula under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Manager
  • Participate in data collection for clinical research and education outcomes reporting under the direction of the HSS Athlete Health Program Director

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in: Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Public Health or a closely related field
  • Recommended certifications include: Exercise Physiologist (ACSM), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), or similar
  • Current First Aid-CPR/BLS certification
  • Outstanding communication and human interaction skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years clinical experience
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, clinical movement assessments/performance analysis technology, and injury risk reduction best practices
  • Strong consideration given to those with a demonstrated history of public speaking, sports injury prevention program development, and/or implementation of public health education programs
  • Strong consideration given to those with a background in elite-level sports, adult fitness/recreation, or performing arts
