Preconstruction Scheduler

The Preconstruction Scheduler is a critical role within our construction management preconstruction team, responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules and logistics plans during the preconstruction phase of our projects and pursuits. This position ensures projects are scheduled accurately and that logistics plans are accurate and coordinated with the operations personnel assigned. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of construction processes, logistical planning and scheduling software. Some VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) experience would be beneficial for logistics planning as well.

Responsibilities:

Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) for the duration of the preconstruction phase of assigned projects/pursuits.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather schedule input and ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze progress and identify potential schedule delays or conflicts.
  • Generate regular schedule reports and provide updates to project teams and management.
  • Implement and track critical path method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Perform schedule risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies during preconstruction.
  • Monitor and update schedules based on changes to deadlines, submissions, and other project modifications.
  • Develop and maintain standard schedule templates for specific project types in order to facilitate quick responses to scheduling requests.

Logistics Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive logistics plans for construction projects during preconstruction, including material delivery, equipment staging, and site access.
  • Provide graphic logistics plans that are presentation suitable, easy to understand and implement.
  • Coordinate with the operations team assigned to the project/pursuit, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to ensure representation of all applicable logistic controls is included in the pursuit submission.
  • Optimize site layout and traffic flow to minimize congestion and maximize efficiency for presentation.
  • Manage site storage and material handling processes for presentation.
  • Develop and implement site safety plans related to logistics for presentation.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential logistics challenges. Note the same graphically on the presentation
  • Coordinate temporary utilities and site services graphically on presentation.
  • Manage waste removal and site cleanup logistics graphically.
  • Create and maintain logistics related documentation for pursuit/presentation.

General:

  • Attend project meetings and provide schedule and logistics updates during preconstruction.
  • Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project control procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in construction scheduling and logistics planning.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experience in civil, multifamily, commercial, municipal and other is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions.
  • Ability to hear and speak on a standard telephone.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull or carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, pull or carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift files, open filing cabinets by bending at the waist or standing on a stool as necessary.
