Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Clinical Specialist - Boca Raton, FL.

Florida Atlantic CARD provides expert consulting, training and support, at no charge, for all people with autism and related disabilities, their families, employers, the professionals and community and governmental agencies serving them.

Reporting to the Director, the Clinical Specialist is responsible for providing consultation, training, and support to individuals with autism and related disabilities, their families, and the professionals who serve them. This role involves the development and dissemination of resources, coordination of services, facilitation of community engagement, and collaboration with a broad network of professionals and stakeholders within the region.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Needs Identification: Evaluate client situations to understand their needs and challenges, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their unique circumstances.

  • Resource Identification and Referral: Research and identify available community resources, programs, and services that can address client needs and support their well-being.

  • Support: Provide support and guidance as they navigate complex systems and processes, including educational, healthcare, and community services.

  • Community Outreach and Engagement: Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about available services, build relationships with key community stakeholders, and strengthen partnerships to support individuals with autism.

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work collaboratively with other professionals, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery for individuals with autism and related disabilities.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, assessments, and case progress, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.

  • Provide direct consultation to educators, school staff, and service providers to improve outcomes for individuals with autism.

  • Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops for parents, caregivers, and professionals on best practices, behavioral strategies, and educational accommodations.

  • Support research initiatives and program activities at FAU CARD, including collecting data, evaluating interventions, and improving program effectiveness.

  • Collaborate as a member of the Mental Health and Autism Task Force, engaging with over 400 professionals to enhance service delivery, and research in the autism and mental health fields.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal policies affecting individuals with autism and related disabilities.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Valid Driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in special education, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Rehabilitation
Counseling, or related degree.

Minimally 3 years of experience working directly with individuals with autism and related disabilities.

Minimally 1 year of experience conducting or participating in research in autism, mental health, or related fields, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Experience teaching professionals in autism-related training and presenting on autism and related topics.

Experience developing and delivering programs focused on autism awareness, intervention strategies, and support techniques.

Effective knowledge and use of computer hardware and software.

Salary:

$50,000 - $54,000 annually.

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
