Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Mentoring Programs - Boca Raton, FL.

The Office of Government Relations and Economic Development is excited to recruit for the role of Assistant Director of Mentoring Programs. This role supports the development, management, and expansion of mentorship initiatives at Florida Atlantic University, including those connected to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Alumni & Community Engagement, and additional university partners. This role provides operational oversight, event coordination, and program execution to strengthen mentoring experiences for OLLI participants, alumni, students, and community stakeholders.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Assistant Director helps design and enhance mentoring strategies that advance institutional priorities in community engagement, experiential learning, student success, and Presidential Mentoring initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Development

  • Support and design mentoring events aligned with FAU’s mission and the State University System of Florida’s 2030 strategic plan.

  • Contribute to comprehensive, intergenerational mentoring models that promote community engagement and participant enrichment.

  • Assist in developing program goals, frameworks, and outcome measures tied to Performance-Based Funding metrics and student success.

  • Support first- and second‑year mentoring for first‑generation students, focusing on retention, persistence, transfer success, and campus engagement.

  • Support career-focused mentoring for third- and fourth‑year students, emphasizing internships, career connections, employment outcomes, and salary goals.

  • Identify opportunities to expand mentoring participation across FAU and within the community, including students, alumni, community partners, and lifelong learners.

Mentor Recruitment, Training & Support

  • Manage a diverse mentor pipeline, including OLLI participants, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers.

  • Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and training materials.

  • Implement best practices in volunteer engagement, mentor‑mentee matching, and relationship management. Host orientations and training sessions for mentors and mentees.

Program Coordination

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of mentoring programs in alignment with institutional policies and OLLI standards.

  • Supervise interns, graduate assistants, and student employees.

  • Assist with managing program budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Administer assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement.

Outreach, Partnerships & Communications

  • Grow visibility of mentoring programs through outreach, tabling, and digital engagement including but not limited to social media outreach, website updates, and marketing efforts.

  • Build and maintain partnerships across FAU’s campuses (Jupiter, Boca Raton, Davie).

  • Create communications, reports, and presentations that highlight program outcomes and support strategic goals.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of appropriate experience required.


Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Experience working in higher education, particularly with community engagement or lifelong learning units.

Success in securing external partners, volunteers, or funding.

Commitment to advancing Florida Atlantic’s mission of student success and community impact.

Salary:

$60,000 - $65,000 per year.
