Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Senior Director of Global Academic Services and Education Abroad - Boca Raton, FL.
The Senior Director of Global Academic Services and Education Abroad provides strategic leadership for a wide portfolio of international programs and initiatives within the Center for Global Engagement. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Global Engagement and International Services, this role oversees education abroad, global academic services, international regulatory processes, and Fulbright advising, ensuring academic quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with institutional global engagement priorities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Functional Area Leadership and Strategy:
Provide vision and strategic direction for education abroad and global academic services in alignment with institutional priorities and global engagement goals.
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to ensure professional standards and ongoing performance evaluation of Global Academic Services and Education Abroad staff
In collaboration with the AVP and the Senior Director for International Student Services, leverage international academic mobility, global partnerships, and study abroad to support student success as well as other institutional strategic priorities and metrics
Oversee education abroad programs, including faculty-led, exchange, direct enrollment, third-party, and experiential global learning opportunities.
Ensure that study abroad and other global learning opportunities maintain academic integrity, student learning outcomes, and alignment with curriculum and degree requirements.
Financial and Administrative Management:
Ensure fiscally responsible practices and resource allocations for global academic services and education abroad.
Manage agreement renewals and service contracts with international partners and program providers in education abroad.
Identify revenue-generating opportunities; develop and implement innovative programs that shore up the financial health of the units.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer or Responsible Officer (depending on prior experience) for the Exchange Visitor Program and ensure full compliance with U.S. Department of State regulations and institutional policies.
Oversee J-1 visa guidance and reporting for J-1 students, scholars, and short-term visitors.
Oversee international faculty and staff employment-based non-immigrant and immigrant visa processes and regulations (H-1B, TN, O1, and PERM); serve as the liaison to external immigration counsel, Provost Office, and Human Resources on matters related to the hiring of university-sponsored foreign.
Provide outbound visa guidance and support for students, faculty, and staff engaging in study abroad-related programs and activities.
Collaborate with relevant parties to ensure travel risk management, crisis response planning, and emergency protocols.
Oversee outbound visa advising and support for students, faculty, and staff participating in international programs.
Ensure accurate, timely guidance on host-country visa and immigration requirements.
Develop risk-mitigation strategies related to international travel and immigration compliance.
Fulbright & Prestigious Global Awards:
Provide leadership and oversight for Fulbright student and scholar advising and institutional endorsement processes.
Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to identify, mentor, and support competitive applicants.
Strengthen institutional visibility and success in Fulbright and related global fellowship programs.
Lead efforts to increase participation in applications to other prestigious scholarships such as Gilman and Boren; collaborate with the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry to support students applying for prestigious awards.
Collaboration & Campus Engagement:
Partner with academic units, advising offices, student affairs, risk management, legal counsel, and senior leadership.
Represent the institution in national and international professional organizations related to international education.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to advance the goals of Global Academic Services, Education Abroad, and the Center for Global Engagement.
Lead signature initiatives such as International Education Week, Fulbright Days, and Study Abroad Fairs.
Complete other job-related duties as assigned by the AVP.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's of Science degree from an accredited institution and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Experience advising Fulbright applicants or managing Fulbright-related programs.
Demonstrated engagement in developing and sustaining international partnerships and faculty‑led global initiatives.
Proficiency in at least one foreign language.
Previous experience living or working abroad.
Salary:
$105,000 - $115,000 per year.Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)
