Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director, New Student Transitions & Family Programs. - Boca Raton, FL.
The Director of New Student Transitions & Family Programs directly supervise the Department of New Student Transitions & Family Engagement centrally located at the Boca Raton campus. This role plays a vital role in providing leadership for programs at each of FAU’s campuses and at FAU HS. This includes supervising both professional and student staff. Responsible for adhering to state and university regulations and compliance.
Summary of responsibilities:
Oversee the process of new student orientation for all new undergraduate degree-seeking first-year and transfer students, as well as their families/supporters, university-wide.
Facilitate and direct a complementary online/phased virtual orientation that is conducive to completing the transition to the university.
Collaborates with Enrollment Management in supporting new students and families following admissions through the beginning of classes by providing resources to assist with overall transition to the university, with an emphasis on the orientation to campus services that promote student success and retention. Actively participate in Undergraduate Admissions events, including Explore & Choose FAU Days at Boca Raton.
Leads the implementation of new student programming, including, but not limited to, Red & Blue Weeks,(Welcome Activities Fall/Spring/Summer), First Saturday in Paradise, How to Florida Atlantic, First-Year Convocation, Need Help? Just Ask! and other related Academic/ Student Success Initiatives.
Establish program goals and outcomes. Develop an assessment plan to measure new student orientation and ensure that goals and outcomes are achieved. Supervise family activities and processes for supporters of undergraduate students, including organizing family weekend(s). Serves as liaison with University Advancement/ Alumni & Community Engagement toward the creation and implementation of additional family/supported related programming.
Provide collaborative guidance to Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Academic Advising, Housing & Residential Education, Career Services, Business Services, Academic Colleges, and other related offices to ensure the smooth transition of new students to the university. Serve as a member of the New Student & Transfer Enrollment Management Operations Committee and the Student Success Data Analytics Strategy Group.
Partner with Career Services to embed career-focused discussions into orientation and related parent programs, emphasizing the importance of securing paid internships, introducing students to strategies for exploring new companies and industries, and sharing alumni career outcomes related to their chosen majors.
Manage all fiscal revenue collection and expenditures associated with the Department of New Student Transitions & Family Engagement.
Provide assistance and guidance to graduate student orientation in working with the Graduate College as deemed necessary.
Provide leadership and support for Transfer Student engagement, including post-enrollment transition and engagement. Lead transfer transition and success initiatives by overseeing transfer-focused programs, ensuring alignment across transfer onboarding, transition, and ongoing support. Collaborate and communicate with offices providing student services to develop transfer-specific programs to promote transfer students’ successful transition.
Oversee effective, timely, and responsive communication and outreach efforts, including branding, website, social media and other publications and artifacts; including Student Handbook and Family Handbook.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.Salary:
