Position Summary:
The Department of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Public Law, open subfield, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 2026. Candidates should expect to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public law, offer introductory undergraduate courses, and closely advise students interested in law. Eligible candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Political Science (or commensurate discipline), with preference given to candidates who additionally hold a J.D. with legal experience.
Those hired will have a teaching load of 3/2 and should be able to provide instruction in a variety of modalities, including online, hybrid and in-person. Preference will be given to candidates who also show promise in securing external support through public or private grants. We favor applicants who are comfortable working with those in the local legal community to build relationships and networks between students and those practicing in the community.
The Department of Political Science has 17 faculty members committed to excellence in research and teaching. The department has over 400 undergraduate majors and 25 Master’s students. The department also contributes to the College of Arts & Letters’ interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Comparative Studies.
