Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor III - Boca Raton, FL.
The Academic Advisor III is responsible for providing general academic advising, supporting student success, and monitoring academic plans to ensure degree progress and timely graduation.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Provides academic advising support to undergraduate programs in the College of Social Work & Criminal Justice.
Assists undergraduate students with term-by-term course selection and development of long-term plans of study. Provides information about educational opportunities (Internships, Combined programs, Graduate Studies, Honors Programs, etc.) and special services as per students’ specific needs.
Manage and coordinate the Soar in 4 programs, from invitation, acceptance through graduation. Maintains accurate records related to timely graduation per cohort.
Assists incoming transfer students with determining course equivalencies and course registration.
Serves as liaison to School Directors, Program Coordinators and faculty on course scheduling & curriculum changes.
Is familiar with degree requirements and performs graduation certification. Maintains databases of current students.
Participates in College and University efforts to conduct/support recruitment and outreach activities.
Present at First Year Soar Orientations and/or Transfer Student Orientations and assist with Admissions open house and recruitment events supporting the college.
Serve as liaison to Admissions for recruitment events.
Participate in various College initiatives to support Metrics/KPI efforts, student success & retention. Assists in connecting students experiencing academic difficulty to the appropriate campus resources.
Maintains close communication with supervisor and colleagues. Assist in training of incoming undergraduate advisors.
Complete critical forms such as financial aid documents, NCAA forms, international regulations, etc.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development seminars, and other student support-related meetings.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of appropriate experience required.Must have excellent customer service skills.
proficiency in Microsoft office required.
Excellent writing and communication skills required.
Preferred Skills/Communication:
Appreciative Advisor Certification is strongly preferred.
Salary:
