Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Systems Administrator I– Boca Raton, FL.

The Office of Information Technology at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator. This role supports the systems team in managing and maintaining infrastructure services and applications across Linux and Windows environments. The position offers hands-on experience with server administration, data center operations, and end-user support.

Summary of Responsibilities includes:

  • Assist in the administration of infrastructure services and applications on Linux and some Windows servers.
  • Deploy, manage, and upgrade Linux servers and appliances.
  • Coordinate with departments and organizations to determine service requirements and ensure alignment with IT policies.
  • Interpret and apply departmental rules and policies related to information systems; recommend improvements and new programs.
  • Design, develop, and execute special projects within the information systems domain.
  • Administer servers and ensure security across FAU’s primary and remote campuses, including cloud-based environments.
  • Manage operating systems and application stacks such as Apache, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, network load balancers, and storage area networks.
  • Oversee data center operations, including rack installation, power configuration, cable management, and UPS/PDU load sizing.
  • Provide end-user support by responding to and resolving support tickets.
  • Support applications including email security, enterprise content management, global certificate management, and system monitoring.
  • Serve as a backup subject matter expert for various team-supported applications.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.
