Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Paralegal Intern - Boca Raton, FL.
The Paralegal Intern provides essential administrative and legal support to the attorneys and operational staff in FAU’s General Counsel’s Office. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks across legal, administrative, and records functions.
Summary of Responsibilities:
In the area of subpoena processing, the Legal Office Assistant is responsible for monitoring and updating the subpoena log, receiving and logging incoming subpoenas, preparing student notifications, requesting records from appropriate departments, saving and redacting records, drafting response letters, and coordinating mailings while maintaining an accurate mailing log.
For bankruptcy matters, the assistant regularly checks dockets for updates, receives and forwards correspondence to the Collections department, and ensures consistent communication with Collections staff regarding ongoing cases.
Attorney support duties include preparing binders, PowerPoint presentations, and responding to attorney requests; scheduling meetings, Teams calls, and telephone conferences; and indexing and organizing attorney files.
General office administration involves maintaining an organized workspace, answering phone calls and emails, ensuring office supplies and printers are stocked, and managing the kitchen and water supply. The assistant may also be assigned various special projects as needed.
Research responsibilities include conducting in-depth online searches and reviewing court dockets in jurisdictions such as Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Frequent comparisons of policies and regulations across all the State University System schools.
In record retention, the assistant helps organize and transport records from active use to archive, maintains accurate records of materials in storage, and manages files associated with both current and closed cases.

Minimum Qualifications:
A High School diploma and one year of administrative or legal experience required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
A professional demeanor and a commitment to confidentiality required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Familiarity with legal documents and court docket systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new technologies.
