Project: Vadodara Industrial Plant Expansion Project
Project Type: Industrial Greenfield & Brownfield Manufacturing Project
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat
Position: EHS Officer / Safety Engineer
Experience Required: 10+ Years

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced EHS Officer (Safety Engineer) to manage site safety operations for an industrial plant expansion project. The candidate will be responsible for implementing EHS standards, ensuring statutory compliance, managing contractor safety, conducting audits, and promoting a strong safety culture across the project.

Mandatory Qualification:

  • Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline.

  • Mandatory ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) / PDIS (Post Diploma in Industrial Safety) certification from a recognized institute.

  • Candidates without ADIS/PDIS certification will not be considered.

Preferred Industry Experience:

  • Industrial Manufacturing Projects

  • Chemical / Pharmaceutical Projects

  • EPC Projects

  • Industrial Infrastructure Projects

  • Large-scale Construction Projects

Key Responsibilities:

Site Safety Management:

  • Implement and monitor project safety plans across contractors and subcontractors.

  • Conduct daily site safety inspections.

  • Monitor high-risk activities including:

    • Work at Height

    • Lifting Operations

    • Hot Work

    • Electrical Activities

    • Excavation Work

    • Confined Space Entry

  • Manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.

Compliance & Regulatory Monitoring:

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • Factory Act and applicable Factory Rules

    • BOCW (Building and Other Construction Workers) Act and applicable compliance requirements

    • Labour License requirements

    • PF & ESIC compliance

    • Pollution Control Board requirements

    • Client and statutory EHS requirements

  • Maintain complete EHS records and documentation for audits and inspections.

Safety Training & Awareness:

  • Conduct safety induction programs for workers and staff.

  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness campaigns.

  • Promote proactive safety culture across the project.

Incident & Risk Management:

  • Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.

  • Conduct incident and near-miss investigations.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain risk assessment records and mitigation plans.

Contractor Safety Management:

  • Review contractor safety plans, JSA, method statements, and risk assessments.

  • Monitor contractor compliance with PPE requirements and approved safety procedures.

  • Ensure proper deployment of safety personnel by contractors.

Inspections, Audits & Reporting:

  • Conduct routine EHS inspections and compliance audits.

  • Prepare:

    • Daily Safety Reports

    • Weekly EHS Reports

    • Monthly Safety Performance Reports

  • Escalate critical safety concerns to Project Manager and Client.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant EHS/Safety experience.

  • Experience in industrial plant construction / expansion projects.

  • Strong exposure to Greenfield and Brownfield projects.

  • Experience managing multiple contractors at site.

  • Exposure to Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Utility installation safety.

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, EPC, or process plant projects preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety regulations and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Mandatory knowledge of BOCW Act and related compliance requirements.

  • Good understanding of EHS management systems and safety standards.

  • Strong incident investigation, reporting, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

  • Ability to enforce safety discipline across multiple contractors and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting systems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Manufacturing facility expansion projects.

  • Chemical, Pharmaceutical, API, Specialty Chemicals, FMCG, or Industrial Plant construction projects.

  • Experience working with PMC / Owner's Representative teams will be preferred.

Note:

Only candidates with Civil Engineering qualification + ADIS/PDIS certification from a recognized institute, strong industrial project experience, and knowledge of BOCW Act compliance will be considered.
