Summary Objective

The Clean and Safe Ambassador is responsible for, but not limited to various of community duties to upheld with the cleanliness within the CRA’s designated areas of Riviera Beach, including Ocean Walk, Broadway and Blue, 13th Street Bicentennial Park, various community gardens and all of CRA owned properties. Clean and Safe Ambassadors will also have the role of the Marina Event Center to assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment to all who frequents the facility including event set-ups and breakdowns.

Supervision Received/Exercised
The Clean and Safe Ambassadors will receive daily instructions from the Clean and Safe Supervisor including daily supervision from the Clean and Safe Assistant Manager and/ or Clean and Safe Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of the overall CRA District, Event Center, Marina Village and Ocean Walk area.
  • Provides excellent customer service to the public (i.e.: patrons, vendors) and co-workers including responding to inquiries and requests and resolving customer complaints as necessary in a prompt, effective and courteous manner.
  • Performs Public Service Ambassadors (PSA) duties when required.
  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisors via radio/cell phone, report location, clean-ups and facilitates problems.
  • Assists key staff in facility set-up/break down for organized events as necessary.
  • Distribution of facility related promotional materials throughout CRA District.
  • Sweeps or removes litter from sidewalks, curbs, and other areas of public space.
  • Removes debris from trash cans, dog waste bins, curb line to prevent obstruction of storm drains throughout the CRA District and Marina.
  • Locate and remove graffiti from buildings, sidewalks, and sidewalk/street fixtures.
  • Perform leaf blowing and cultivation during required seasons
  • Assists in the upkeep and sanitary operation of the entire facility to include windows, main floors, kitchen, terrace, indoor and outdoor restrooms in the Event Center and Marina Village.
  • Pressures wash sidewalks and the Blue Heron Flat Bridge on a scheduled basis.
  • Pressures wash surrounding areas of the Event Center, the Promenade, Bicentennial Park and splash pad.
  • Provides concierge service to visitors and staff.
  • Empties all Marina Village trash cans at a minimum 3 time per shift.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the Ambassador Center to include the removal debris from the trash bins, preparing the facility for meetings and events, report any areas of concerns
  • Assists customers with AV/electrical needs within the Event Center and Marina Village.
  • Provides Shuttle service from the parking lots to various locations within Marina Village. NO TIPS are allowed to be taken.
  • Tracks and records preventive maintenance of critical equipment, ensuring complete service records and inventory accuracy of all CRA equipment’s and CRA vehicle.
  • Maintains adequately supplies and equipment for repairs.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance and reporting of all CRA equipment, vehicles and work logbooks.
  • Performs preventative maintenance by changing oil, lubricating, replacing worn parts,
and adjusting aforementioned equipment.
  • Sharpens hand tools and mower reels, rotary mower blades, and all other landscaping equipment.
  • Operates diagnostic electronic equipment for checking charging systems, blade tip, braking systems
  • Performs basic tune-ups to all mechanized and powered hand tools.
  • Trains and assists other staff in the basic operation and the daily pre-start check list.
  • Observes and reports any unwanted and illegal activities throughout the CRA District, Ocean walk Area and Marina Village to Clean and Safe Assistant Manager and/ or Clean and Safe Manager.
  • Assists in the Community Gardens when required.
  • May also perform unskilled and semi-skilled work necessary to the operation of maintenance of CRA properties, and grounds including manual labor, landscaping, operation of motorized equipment, equipment maintenance, building and grounds maintenance and construction.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clean and Safe Assistant Manager, and/or Clean and Safe Manager and/or CRA Management.

Minimum Requirements

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED with some college preferred and
Knowledgeable with all landscape equipment, including mechanized equipment and
Basic mechanical skills in order to perform basic preventative maintenance and maintenance on equipment and
Valid Florida Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

Pressure washing knowledge

Necessary Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Self-motivated, energetic learner and leader with a good sense of humor.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and customer service oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with groups and the public.
  • Ability to follow instructions. Required to maintain a clean, neat appearance.
  • Comfortable in dealing with panhandling, homelessness, vagrancy, and vandalism.
  • Ability to exercise self-control when dealing with distraught, disturbed, disabled, irate, and intoxicated individuals
  • Have knowledge and understand of safe work practices and policies
  • Experience using electronic reporting systems and smartphone apps.
  • Microsoft Office suite basic skill level (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Tools and Equipment
Must be knowledgeable with all landscape equipment, including mechanized equipment. Must have basic mechanical skills in order to perform basic preventive maintenance and maintenance on the equipment. Pressure washing knowledge a plus.

Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate landscaping equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds, raising objects from lower to higher positions, and moving objects from lower to higher positions, and moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Specific vision abilities required for this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
The employee must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to climb a ladder up to eight (8) feet.
Because the Ambassador Program will operate 7 days a week, hours of operation run from 7am to Midnight depending on the specific job location. This position covers various shifts working weekends, holidays, some evening and late-night hours, with additional requirements to be on call for significant emergencies or major events. This is a full-time position with hours that may vary occasionally for special events and operations.
