About This Role
The Senior Manager, U.S. Benefits is a highly experienced professional responsible for overseeing and managing the comprehensive U.S. benefits and Total Rewards programs. This role focuses on designing and implementing competitive benefits offerings that comply with U.S. legal and regulatory requirements, while aligning with the company's strategic goals. The Senior Manager will work closely with senior leadership to develop and communicate Total Rewards strategies and ensure the benefits programs remain competitive, cost-effective, and meet employee needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- U.S. Benefits Program Management:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of U.S. employee benefits programs, including health, life, disability, retirement, and wellness benefits.
- Ensure U.S. benefits programs are compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, and other applicable laws.
- Manage vendors used to support and administer day-to-day benefits processes, such as benefits billing, enrollment, claims management, and employee eligibility monitoring.
- Total Rewards Integration:
- Integrate U.S. benefits programs with overall Total Rewards strategy, ensuring a competitive and cohesive offering that supports the company’s recruitment, retention, and employee engagement goals.
- Collaborate with compensation and HR teams to ensure alignment between benefits and compensation packages, promoting internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
- Manage effective relationships with external U.S. benefits vendors and service providers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective program delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to optimize benefits offerings and ensure the organization’s goals are met.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Monitor ongoing compliance with all U.S. benefits-related regulations and requirements, staying up to date with changes in healthcare laws, retirement plans, and other benefits-related legislation.
- Prepare and present reports on benefits utilization, cost trends, and program performance to senior leadership, making recommendations for program improvements and cost savings.
- Employee Communication & Support:
- Design and implement communication strategies to educate employees on U.S. benefits offerings, ensuring clear understanding and maximizing program utilization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries, providing expert guidance and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance to HR teams on benefits-related questions and escalations, ensuring effective support at all levels.
- Data Analysis & Strategic Recommendations:
- Analyze benefits data, trends, and employee feedback to evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments and recommending enhancements where needed.
- Provide strategic recommendations on U.S. benefits programs based on data insights, market trends, and company goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience in U.S. benefits management, including health, life, disability, retirement, and wellness benefits.
- 7+ years of experience working with U.S. benefits compliance, including federal and state regulations (ERISA, ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.).
- 5+ years of experience working with U.S. benefits vendors and managing benefits administration processes for large U.S. employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Certifications such as CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or similar in U.S. benefits management are a plus.
- Expertise in U.S. Healthcare benefits, including healthcare reform changes, ACA compliance, and the management of health and welfare plans.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing wellness programs and other employee benefits to improve engagement and reduce healthcare costs.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed organization with a focus on U.S. employee benefits.
- Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits, with a focus on compliance and cost management.
- Expertise in analyzing U.S. benefits data and trends to inform decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, and benefits management software.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex benefits information to employees and senior leaders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve employee benefits issues effectively and efficiently.
