Description
Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and office manager and is responsible for assisting the physicians in the practice. Assists in examination and treatment of patients, interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients charts. Also draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Estimated pay range for this position is $17.53 - $24.90 / hour depending on experience.
Qualifications
Degrees:
- High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Emergency Medical Technician.
- Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Registered Medical Assistant.
- Basic Life Support.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must have at least one of the above required licenses/certifications (MA, CNA, LPN, EMT).
- Medical Assistants with a Certificate or Diploma of Completion of a Medical Assistant training program hired after 7/1/16 or foreign Medical Doctor with a foreign medical doctor diploma hired after 5/1/17 will have up to 6 months from start of employment with BHSF to obtain Medical Assistant Certification.
- Effective 11/3/17, a Foreign Medical Doctor with a Foreign Medical Doctor Diploma will no longer be qualified to be hired in the Medical Assistant role.
- BLS required for all.
- For Primary Care Practices, EKG and Phlebotomy Certifications are also required for employees with the CNA license only.
- CNA, LPN, EMT license must be from Florida.
- Must be professional, organized, and a detail-oriented team player with effective interpersonal communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
- Possesses compassionate demeanor and high ethical standards.
- HIPAA/OSHA compliance required.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, co-workers and practice manager.
- Bilingual preferred.
Minimum Required Experience: 1 year MA experience preferred.
Duties will include:
MA role - 1st priority
• Assisting with the staff bucket for clinical tasks (big backlog at the moment, this is our first need)
• Rooming patients when we need coverage for the primary MA
• Chart prep (and sorting through a lot of breast imaging results)
PAA role - 2nd priority
• Checking in and out
• Making appointments
• Assisting with the staff bucket for non-clinical tasks
• Running the front desk when we need coverage for the primary PAA
