Summary:
The Director of Communications will focus on developing and overseeing comprehensive communications strategies to promote ADT’s products, services, and corporate culture. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior leadership of communications teams supporting strategy and execution. We expect the Director of Communications to foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and quality, while mentoring staff using a supporting, collaborative approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Oversee the development of ADT communications, including internal, external, and executive level communications.
- Partner closely with the senior leaders to build a 360˚ communications plan to drive perception change and consideration with employees.
- Lead cross-functional teams outside of marketing and comms, including human resources, product, operations teams, and executive leadership, to ensure that communications are consistent, aligned, and support business objectives.
- Lead thought leadership initiatives by identifying subject matter experts across the organization, uncovering newsworthy topics, facilitating sourcing sessions, and securing high-impact opportunities such as media interviews, expert commentary, speaking engagements, and bylined articles to elevate ADT executives as industry leaders.
- Support the development and implementation of crisis communications plans, collaborating with internal teams to develop timely responses for use in external communication and press inquiries.
- Provide regular reports to leadership, offering insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Partner with the corporate events and CSR teams to lead key industry events help drive positive visibility for the ADT brand.
- Direct the communications function, including budgeting, planning, and staff development.
External Communications:
- Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and industry influencers to secure positive coverage and manage crisis communication when necessary.
- Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, and other materials for distribution to relevant media channels.
- Stay attuned to industry trends and competitor product communications efforts, identifying learnings and opportunities to keep the ADT brand top of mind among media and consumers.
- Ensure that all external communication activities adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, industry standards, and best practices.
Drive Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Develop and implement communications strategies for employee engagement that drive company goals, shape culture, and build community.
- Counsel senior leadership on change management communications and executive writing needs.
- Partner with the CCO and Marketing Leadership Team to establish brand voice and tone, ensuring consistency of messaging and engagement across the business.
Content Creation and Management:
- Collaborate with marketing, digital, and social teams to ensure alignment of earned, owned, shared and paid media programs, to maximize reach and impact.
- Identify opportunities to repurpose existing ADT content and marketing materials for media relations campaigns and press messaging.
- Translate complex data into compelling narratives and visualizations to inform decision-making and reinforce ADT’s position as a thought-leader.
- Track metrics to assess the impact of each corporate communication channel, tracking media coverage, sentiment, and audience engagement (internal and external).
Team Development/Management:
- Align internal, external, and executive communications with ADT's goals and vision.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Leadership Team to support go-to-market initiatives.
- Design and periodically refresh communication plans based on business needs.
- Develop strategic plans to enhance brand visibility and stakeholder communication.
- Manage the communications budget and align campaigns with strategic goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of communications leadership experience in internal and external teams.
- Strong analytical and creative skills in corporate and brand communications.
- Experience in collaborating with marketing on strategy and communications enhancement.
- Proven ability in team building, mentoring, and innovative problem-solving.
- Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing market dynamics and strong networking skills.
Location:
- Our office follows 4 days onsite and 1-day remote schedule
